SUNSHINE was well-timed for Phyllis Tuckwell hospice’s annual Walk for the Wards, which took place earlier this month.
Some 540 people gathered in Tilford to take part in the sponsored event, which raises funds to support the end of life care which Phyllis Tuckwell provides for patients and families living with a terminal illness, such as cancer.
Walkers chose between a five-mile route which circled Tilford, taking in its countryside and bluebell woods, and a ten mile option through Frensham Common and around the Little Pond.
“We would like to thank everyone who took part in the walk this year,” said hospice fundraiser Fiona Chapman.
“The money raised will help fund the vital hospice care which we provide for the residents of West Surrey and North East Hampshire. With nearly 200 more walkers this year, we are hoping to beat last year’s total of £17,500 – so thank you very much to all those who came along.
The organisers also thanked the volunteers and marshals, Paul Fitchett Images, Sainsbury’s in Grayshott, Morrison’s and Tesco, all of whom donated refreshments.
