FARNHAM Walkie Talkies, a Facebook group bringing together a community of dog lovers through pack walking, has launched an additional walk because of popular demand.

Eleanor Simon and Chris White, who set up the voluntary dog walking group in January, now run four weekly events for Walkie Talkies members, one of which is a puppy walk.

People from all walks of life and ages from across Surrey and Hampshire meet regularly for some walking and talking.

Even non dog owners tag along on the walks, which have become so popular there is a waiting list to join.

Eleanor said: “We value our members by encouraging them to contribute by leading walks of their own.

“We provide four regular walks a week with an organised events list.

“We carry out a recce for our walks to check its terrain and suitability for our walkers and the pooches.”

Chris added: “Both myself and Eleanor ensure new members are introduced to everyone. We help all new dogs settle in the pack and ensure their owners get the support and guidance they need.”

Walks range from one hour to two hours and every event has a meeting point, as well as a walk leader.

The group recently took part in Phyllis Tuckwell’s Wellies & Walkies event in Farnham Park and hopes to do more charity walks in the future.

Eleanor and Chris are also building a network with dog-walking groups in neighbouring counties to offer members a day out in a new location.
