FOR those looking to get active in the new year ‘walking netball’ has come to Farnham.
The scheme has been launched by England Netball to encourage women of all ages and abilities to return to netball.
After the success of walking football in Surrey, a six-week trial of walking netball was held in the later part of 2015.
Karen Halcrow, who runs the sessions in Farnham, said “the trial met with very positive feedback from those in attendance” so now regular sessions are scheduled to be held at Weydon School.
Walking netball is designed to have benefits for everyone from improving health and mobility to offering new social opportunities.
Karen added the game is “good mentally as well as physically because the slower speed requires more tactical thinking”.
The club is now seeking new members. Weekly sessions are being held indoors at Weydon School every Thursday from 7.30pm to 8.30pm.
For more information or to sign up for a free trial session, call Sue Baldwin on 01252 793248 or Karen Halcrow on 07717 854501.
