FOR the two days before Christmas a handful of local residents manned a small tea and coffee stall outside Morgan's Butcher, in Ridgway Road, Farnham, raising more than £900 for the Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice.
From 6am until the butcher's closed, they provided light relief while shoppers queued for their Christmas turkeys.
Teas, coffees and a mince pie were offered and an added bonus of a Kindle Fire, donated by Morgan's, and a Sony wireless speaker, donated by John Anderson, saw queues donate continuously throughout the two days.
Pan Panayiotou, who helped organise the stall, said: "We have run this event for six years and I am always amazed by the generosity of the general public. The teas, coffees and mince pies would not be possible without the help and support of all the shop owners on Ridgway Road and especially to Tesco.
"The local residents and neighbours, who man the stall for the duration, do so with extreme generosity and without hesitation and without their help and time this annual event would not be possible.
"This year we have raised £905. This is a staggering achievement in a short amount of time. A huge thanks you to all the residents who gave up their time so willingly, especially when the weather was particularly wet and unforgiving.
"All donations will go to the Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice and the amazing and wonderful work they do."
