A SWAN'S close shave with death has led to a warning by the RSPCA to take care when feeding wild birds.

The alarm was raised when a swan on Kings Pond was rushed to the vet's with an obstruction in its gullet. If it had been left much longer it would have choked to death, according to an RSPCA inspector who is urging people to ensure that the scraps they so lovingly throw to the waterfowl will not harm them.
