DRIVERS using the A3 Hindhead tunnel are being reminded that the red X symbol above a lane means "move out, stay out" after CCTV footage released on Tuesday this week showed a driver ignoring a red X, endangering himself and others.

The driver is shown narrowly avoiding a Highways Agency worker and vehicle inside the tunnel, before cutting in on other traffic in the other lane.

Now the Highways Agency has joined forces with Surrey Police and EM Highway Services to remind all drivers of the risks of not heeding the red cross code.
