SURREY County Council has been accused of "cowering" from enforcing its own planning conditions, after allowing SITA another seven years to restore the Runfold South Quarry.
Under its previous agreement with with the council, the waste management company should have filled in 'Area A' of the Runfold Quarry before December 31, 2011.
SITA said this was not completed in time "due to the economic downturn" and has subsequently been given permission to delay its restoration of the site until the end of 2018.
The council's decision has prompted an angry response from the Runfold Action Group and "disappointment" from county councillors.
