The mayor showed off his northern grit last weekend as a community event in north Farnham pulled in the crowds.
Sandy Hill residents enjoyed a family fun day last Saturday with a host of stalls, activities and traditional games taking place on the main field.
And one of the highlights was a tug of war with Cllr George Murray and the police giving residents a helping hand in a fun display of pulling power.
The town crier also gave a shout out while face painting, a tombola and smoothie bikes also proved popular at the Sandy Hill Inclusive Partnership event.

“It’s good giving something to residents that’s not expensive and something that the whole community can enjoy,” said Melissa Ellenden, chair of SHIP.
“We’ve got a free bouncy castle, vintage vehicles, lots of stalls and a pop up café for Hale Community Centre.
“Basically, we’ve got lots of traditional fun and games for the family,” she added before thanking Farnham Town Council for use of their gazebo, tables and chairs.
Melissa also said she was really happy with the turnout with at least a couple of hundred people enjoying the festivies during the three-hour event.

Badshot Lea church, the Foodbank and Hale Community & Youth Centre also had stalls at the event with Sue Connolly, who works at the latter, keen to highlight what the venue offers the area.
“We’re trying to raise funds to continue to put on classes and events for the local community,” said Sue, with their end of summer community fundraiser on the horizon.
Guests can expect live music, a bar and barbecue with the event taking place at Hale Community Centre from 4.30pm on Friday, September 26.
Tickets are £5 for adults, £3 for kinds and £12 for a family from the venue or www.halecommunitycentre.org.uk
