PLANNING watchdog The Farnham Society has thanked two outgoing committee members for their “support and advice” over a number of years.

The society’s planning committee held its annual lunch at The Bush Hotel on Wednesday, January 10, attended by members, councillors and Tindle Newspapers’ vice chairman Wendy Craig.

David Howell, committee chairman, thanked all the members of the committee for their hard work over the year and in particular mentioned Stewart Edge and Cliff Watts who had found it necessary to leave the committee.

Their support and advice would be missed at future meetings, Mr Howell said, but he was “delighted” that they were prepared to continue support as consultants.

Alan Gavaghan, chairman of The Farnham Society, also expressed thanks and his appreciation for the attendance of Wendy Craig representing Tindle Newspapers.

Thanks were also extended to the attending councillors Carole Cockburn, Andy MacLeod and David Beaman for their commitment to improving the quality of life in Farnham and cited such events as Farnham in Bloom and Music in the Park.

He felt that it “demonstrated that local politicians have the incentive to do what is best for the immediate area, which is not perhaps the first priority of councillors representing distant parts of Waverley”.

“It proved to be a convivial lunch in the pleasant surroundings of the Bush Hotel,” added Mr Gavaghan.
