A MAJOR underground water leak earlier in the week led to the sudden closure of The Petersfield School on Wednesday morning.

All the 1,250 pupils, along with more than 130 staff, were sent home and the school remained closed for the rest of the day while workmen frantically worked to trace the leak to a major water pipe under one of the school playgrounds.
