RESIDENTS and business owners in Farnham will get the chance to learn about a £390,000 project to install a new water main along a stretch of Upper Hale Road this month.

South East Water will be laying a short stretch of water pipeline along the A287 and Upper Hale Road between the junctions of Old Park Lane and Trinity Hill. The remainder of the new pipeline will be laid in private land.

The water company hopes to start work this autumn and is working closely with the local council, highways team and Natural England to plan the work.

For the safety of the public and the company’s workforce, temporary two way traffic lights will be in place for 12 weeks to carry out the section of work in the road.

Engineers from South East Water and its contractors will be on hand to answer questions at the drop-in session between 4.30pm and 7pm on Tuesday (September 19) at Hale Institute Village Hall on Wings Road, Upper Hale.

Matthew Cooper, project manager at South East Water, said: “This important project will secure water supplies for current and future customers in the area.

“We know roadworks can be frustrating but we will be working as quickly as possible to minimise inconvenience to local residents and businesses.

“Our public drop-in session will give people the chance to find out more about the scheme to ask any questions they may have.”
