WORK to improve the water network serving Fernhurst is set to take place in the new year. The programme to install new water flow meters on the pipelines, follows on from previous upgrades and secure supplies for the future.

South East Water’s delivery manager Chris Love said: “The meters record the amount of water passing through our pipelines and the water pressure in a particular area. By monitoring this we can see how much water is being used and, if there is a drastic change in the water pressure, it may indicate a burst, which we can respond to quickly.

“Fernhurst has benefited from investment in its water network recently, but we know these important works have caused disruption. But we will be working as quickly as possible with the minimum of inconvenience to residents.”

Work will be taking place on Vann Road at the junction of West Close and The Leys, from Monday, January 4 and Tuesday, January 26. Where necessary, temporary traffic lights will be used.
