CHURCHES initiative The Wave helps people in their gardens and homes with jobs that they cannot do or afford to do themselves.

The project operates on Saturday mornings every fortnight throughout most of the year.

Every July, it moves up a gear by offering a week of fun events and activities, as well as doing practical jobs around Haslemere.

Anyone eligible whose home is in need of care, whether decorating, gardening, decluttering or waste removal, is invited to contact The Wave organisers. Community groups and organisations can also get in touch to get help with practical tasks.?

Organiser Jon Noble, of 3 Counties Church, said: “God cares about the practical hardships people have to face. When resources are lacking – whether it be money, time, age or health – maintaining your home or garden becomes very difficult. This is when we can step in and bless people by lending a helping hand. It is all about showing God’s love to people in practical ways.”
