TWO months after the worst flooding in living memory in Haslemere, when a culvert collapsed causing thousands of pounds of damage, Waverley Borough Council has agreed to take action.

On Tuesday night Waverley's executive committee agreed to carry out short-term remedial repair work and authorise the investigation of the cost of long-term proposals to restore the Victorian-built culvert.

The brick built culvert which lies under St Christopher's Road, Wey Hill, was last week described by a Waverley engineer as in a "fragile condition".

p The environment and leisure department will report the findings of the investigation relating to the culvert to the executive committee at a future date.
