WAVERLEY Borough Council has applied (to itself) for a premises licence for the Farnham Memorial Hall, ahead of an expected opening of the newly-refurbished health and well-being centre in the new year.

The licence requests permission to stage plays, films “for such things as charity race nights”, live and recorded music including “occasional disco events”, dance and regulated entertainment, as well as to serve alcohol, hot food and drinks at the West Street venue, seven days a week until as late as 1am.

To view the new premise licence for the Memorial Hall in full, including the proposed activities and timings, visit the website which can be found at www.waverley.gov.uk/publicregister and search for the ‘Farnham Memorial Hall’.

Once completed, the revamped Memorial Hall will provide a new home for the Brightwells Gostrey Centre for older people and Waverley Training Services, as well as incorporating its previous community uses.

Construction of the £3 million-plus extension began in September last year with the building work expected to last around 12 months. After several delays the Gostrey Centre has been told an opening in late January, 2018 is now likely.

Waverley, which maintains the building, has set aside a budget of £3m to deliver the project, including a £150,000 contribution from the North East Hampshire & Farnham NHS Clinical Commissioning Group and £55,000 from SCC.
