FARNHAM and surrounding villages have again topped the annual Halifax Quality of Life Survey.
The borough of Waverley is the sixth best place to live in the UK according to the survey, moving up four places since last year.
Hart district, covering the countryside north west of Farnham and Crondall, topped the list for the fifth year in a row.
The rating is based on factors such as jobs, housing, health, crime, weather, traffic and personal well-being as well as statistics from various sources including the Office for National Statistics (ONS) and the Met Office.
The leader of Waverley Borough Council, Robert Knowles, said: “Although I’m thrilled that Waverley has remained in the top 10 places to live for quality of life, as well as moving up four places in the league tables, I’m not at all surprised.
“We live in a fantastic borough with so many great things to shout about, including the beautiful countryside and award winning parks across Waverley, the modern leisure centres with top of the range facilities, the great services delivered day to day by the council - not to mention the wealth of beautiful towns and villages which we live in.”
Stephen Parker, leader of Hart District Council, added: “We are all delighted to receive this title for the fifth consecutive year.
“Our challenges for the future remain difficult particularly with the need to provide for more homes and infrastructure, but we will remain dedicated to maintaining the quality of life for local residents.”
