TO mark national Volunteers’ Week, Waverley Borough Council is saying “a big thank you” to all its countryside volunteers.

In total the council has 132 green-fingered helpers who give up their time to help keep Waverley’s parks and green spaces looking in tip top condition.

During 2015 Waverley countryside volunteers donated 2,738 days to work with the Waverley countryside rangers on tasks ranging from planting trees to building fences.

The work they do not only helps the local wildlife but it also ensures the borough’s outdoor spaces are kept attractive and tidy, so they can be enjoyed by the community.
