CARAVANS and other vehicles flooded into Upper Hart car park late on Thursday night, as Waverley Borough Council’s leadership gathered just metres away at Potters Gate School.

As many as eight caravans and many more cars and white vans were seen pulling into the car park at around 10pm on May 25, just as polling closed and the counting of votes began in the Farnham Castle by-elections.

Speaking to the Herald after the election count, Waverley chief executive Tom Horwood said council officers would visit the car park early on Friday morning and undertake a Human Rights assessment prior to initiating legal procedings against the incursion.

The number of caravans had increased to 11 by 9am on Friday morning, severely restricting the number of spaces available for shoppers, students and town centre workers wishing to park in Upper Hart.
