MEDSTEAD Primary School celebrated its first ever fireworks night last Thursday.

It was organised by the school’s parent teacher association, Friends of Medstead School, and sponsored by Bluebird Care and Homes Estate Agents.

With more than 500 people attending, the event was a huge success which raised substantial funds that will go toward key equipment for the pupils.

As well as an “amazing professional firework display” there was face painting, homemade toffee apples, marshmallow pops, burgers on the barbecue, glow sticks and light up wands, with DJ Francis on the decks to complete the wonderful atmosphere.

Alton fire service and Alton police also provided great excitement for the children who where able to sit in and explore both the fire engine and police cars.

Sally Powell, chairman of Friends of Medstead School, said: “It was a wonderful evening and we were so touched by the huge support that we received from the local community considering that this is the first time we have put a display on.”

And she added: “We can’t wait to do it again next year!”
