WEATHER warnings of wind and rain threatened Churt village fete, but that didn’t stop visitors enjoying the afternoon.

Visitors were treated to entertainment by dynamic duo Batman and Robin, ably assisted by a supercharge from the Churt Cubs and Scouts, who opened the fete on June 8.

There were lots of different stalls selling tasty produce, showing off creative talents and putting on wonderful displays.

Adding to the fete’s nostalgia was splat the rat, test your nerves and a coconut shy, as well as a new inflatable assault course.

Children of all ages joined in the sack race, egg and spoon race, scarecrow dressing up relay and the tug-o-war despite being soaked by a heavy shower, wearing their wellies and waterproofs.

And the rain didn’t stop crowds attending Frensham Fayre either, with the circus-themed afternoon starting with a parade through the village, led by special guest Dumbo from Stagecoach Performing Arts.

As well as a variety of stalls, there were games and rides, horse rides for children and a dog show.

But the highlight for youngsters was the arrival of Clown Rico, with his stilt walking, sweets and circus workshop.

Party in the Park followed, with guests dancing the night away with music from The Hounds of Sound and the bar provided by The Holly Bush, with all profits to the fayre.

The fayre committee has thanked this year’s sponsors – Trueman and Grundy, Mulberry and Co Accountants, Kumon Tuition, Lucas Grant Kitchens and The Fox – as well as everyone else involved.
