A team of students from Weydon School in Farnham have celebrated a second-place finish in the National Reading Champions Quiz, southern region.

Competing as one of 27 schools, #teamweydon was put through more than 10 rounds of fiendishly challenging questions covering a selection of 250 books.

Teams consisted of four students, all aged up to 14 years old, and Weydon whizzes Lucy Kitley, Harrison Parsons, Elizabeth Humphreys and Luke Elithorn demonstrated their knowledge and love of literature to come second.

Run by National Literacy Trust and supported by ALCS, the National Reading Champions Quiz provides a chance for students to enjoy a live virtual quiz against other schools.

Below are two sample questions from this year’s quiz:

1) Unscramble the letters to reveal the name of this classic children’s author who wrote 23 tales: a bitter export.

2) In Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban which character uses a magical instrument called a Time-Turner?
