TWO Weydon School students, Jake Leahy and Jasper Henderson from year seven, competed for Waverley in the Surrey Schools Cross Country Championships recently in Reigate.

Approximately 150 people took part and Jake Leahy finished in 14th place and has been selected to represent Surrey in the South East England Cross Country Championships on March 24.

Jasper was placed 30th which was an impressive effort. The weather was unkind to the pair as it was wet and windy and they did exceptionally well.

Grant Tubridy, progress and achievement leader for year seven, said: “As a school, we are extremely proud to hear that are students are being successful in a range of different capacities.

“Jake and Jasper both performed exceptionally well in the initial trial at Charterhouse in November and fully warranted their opportunity at the recent event.

“I would like to express how pleased I am that the boys performed to their maximal effort and wish Jake all the very best representing Surrey in the Cross County Championships.”
