A NEW project has been launched to provide local people with information about all of the clubs and societies available in Bordon. The project entitled "Discover Whitehill and Bordon" will aim to provide a guide of the leisure activities available, while offering free coverage for local societies. The first stage of the project is to produce a brochure, that will include information about a wide range of local activities for all age groups including; health, sport, culture, entertainment and social clubs. Adam Carew, who chairs the project told The Herald: "We are offering local clubs and societies a unique opportunity to advertise themselves to the people of Whitehill and Bordon and gain new members, completely free of charge. There are no catches. This is a completely free service thanks to the support of the council. "All entries will appear as part of a "Discover Whitehill and Bordon" brochure, which will be sent to every household and information point, across the town." Project organisers are urging everyone involved in any of locally run clubs, to get in touch and tell them about the opportunities they offer. Information is needed by mid-August to meet publication deadlines. Project co-ordinator John Best said: "Things are changing in Whitehill and Bordon. "As an outsider I am amazed to find so much going on in the area, everything from archery and archaeology to scouts and sub aqua, but we want more people to know about it. "The brochure is a sort of directory for all local clubs, societies and leisure activities. In the longer term, we shall also be launching a website. "Again, we plan to include local club and societies entries and contact details – free of charge." Executive member for recreation and heritage, Margaret Snaith, said: "This is a really exciting opportunity for all the clubs and societies in the locality, to help improve the quality of life in Whitehill and Bordon. "Therefore I would urge anyone who is involved in any club or society to get in touch and tell us about their activities. "The council is committed to enhancing the well- being of residents across the county, and many of the existing activities in localities are doing just that – this is just way of ensuring that local people know what's available to them in their own community."
