STAFF at White Stuff in The Borough clocked up the miles in aid of Farnham-based youth charity 40 Degreez.

As part of the retailer’s Smiles Through The Miles event, every White Stuff store in the South East was challenged with travelling 400 miles in seven days - the distance between all stores in the region. Whether they ran, cycled, rowed, swam, all were counted.

The event was is in aid of each store’s partnered charities. The Farnham branch has supported the 40 Degreez centre in Dogflud Way since it first opened eight years ago.

Katie Bedlow, the store’s deputy manager, said: “We sponsor 40 Degreez because it’s so nice to find a charity that provides for young people. It’s not just a youth club, they also help with education and socialising activities.”

Staff pushed themselves to clock up as many miles as they could on the exercise bike in-store, racing past the minimum of 18 miles collecting 100 miles over the week.

Other staff members who were unable to go on the bike contributed in other ways such as tracking the miles they walked with their dogs. Each member of staff was individually sponsored.

All the money the individual stores raise from the event were matched by the White Stuff Foundation and contributed to the charities.
