WHITEHILL Archery Club hosted a training session on Saturday for the Hampshire archery team in preparation for its upcoming match against Sussex.

Six members from the Whitehill club have made it into the team this season and will be facing Sussex in Crawley in a match to be held this weekend. Also, coming up on Saturday, May 25, is an inter-club competition between Whitehill, Petersfield and Alton archery clubs, hosted by Whitehill Archery Club. Whitehill Archery Club, also known as the Whitehill Archers, shoot at the Whitehill Sports Club Field on the A325.

The club welcomes all people who wish to shoot socially, and those who want to take archery to a higher level.

They can cater for longbow, barebow, recurve and compound archery, but are unable to welcome crossbow shooting. The archers shoot all year round and the club welcomes archers 10 years and older.

Archery as a sport was given a boost by last year's London 2012 Olympic Games.
