Putting Whitehill, Bordon, Lindford and Greatham at the heart of East Hampshire District Council policy is the next aim of the Whitehill & Bordon Community Party.

The party which won all 15 Whitehill Town Council seats four years ago wants to keep them on May 4 and also add all six district council seats covering its area. It will be the first time it has contested the district council elections.

Its candidates are Mike Steevens (Hogmoor and Greatham), Penny Flux (Lindford), Adeel Shah (Pinewood), Andy Tree (Chase), Catherine Clark (Chase) and Kirsty Mitchell (Hogmoor and Greatham).

Andy Tree is a local businessman and leader of the party since it was formed in 2017. Catherine Clark, the deputy leader, volunteers at local events and is a Cub pack leader.

Penny Flux works in the pharmaceutical industry and is chairman of governors at Weyford Nursery and Primary Academy. Kirsty Mitchell is a commercial director with experience in transport and infrastructure projects.

Mike Steevens owns a taxi firm. Adeel Shah is a local volunteer and charity fundraiser.

Among the party’s town council candidates is Leeroy Scott, the ceremonial Whitehill town mayor for 2022-23.

Andy Tree said: “We urgently need to get inside East Hampshire District Council on May 4 to better represent our fellow residents at such a crucial time for our community, after coming through the pandemic and now the cost-of-living crisis.

“It has been a chaotic four years at Conservative-dominated EHDC, with a damning conduct report and then U-turns on major policy such as wanting to share a senior management team with Havant and then changing their mind, with the fallout we now see potentially affecting key basic services such as bin collections.

“Our only boss is fellow residents who elect us. We work for you!”
