THE Whitehill Archers held their 10th annual St Nicholas Christmas Pudding Shoot competition last Sunday.
Club chairman Mike Daborn said the event went well, despite windy weather, with 54 archers from Hampshire and neighbouring counties, aged from 10, taking part in “very challenging conditions”.
“At times gusts of 40mph temporarily stopped the shooting, but despite this there were some excellent scores, and congratulations to Sarah Hurcomb who shot a new county record,” added Mr Daborn.
“Our lord patron for the day was Father Christmas, who awarded medals to the winners of the archery competition, a prize for the best Christmas hat and a special junior and senior archer prize.
“Our Hampshire county judges for the day were Paul Richards and Martyn Gore, assisted by David Strong.
“The next competition will be in March, which will be a national record status event.”
