A WIRE art exhibition and open day has been hailed a success by artist Roger Russell.
He told the Herald 25 people went along to the event, “to see my work up close”, have a go at soldering and find out more about the sculpture course.
There were also lots of questions about the wire fairies created by Roger, while four stayed and started a piece of wire sculpture. Under his supervision they made micro insects, including a 300mm wasp and a seven-inch dragonfly.
Roger said he now has 75 local students wanting to learn wire sculpture, and is going to start basic training in soldering and wire forming in February.
He then plans to teach larger groups at Whitehill Village Hall.
