AN 86-year-old man has died after his car was involved in a head-on collision with another vehicle on the A31 near Holybourne on Thursday, November 16.
Douglas Helder of Upper St MaryÕs Road, Aldershot, was driving a Fiat Regatta which according to police appears to have been travelling on the wrong side of the dual carriageway where it collided with a Peugeot 406. The crash happened at around 11-10 pm.
The Fiat was travelling east towards Farnham on the westbound carriageway to Alton. Police say they are not clear how this happened.
The Peugeot was being driven by Richard Page (44) from Neon Road in Milton, Portsmouth. He was trapped in his car and had to be cut free by officers from Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service.
He was then taken by ambulance to BasingstokeÕs North Hampshire Hospital, where his condition is described as ÔstableÕ.
Whitehill traffic officers are now appealing to anyone who was travelling along the A31 and who noticed the Fiat Regatta or who witnessed the crash to get in touch.
