POLICE are appealing for witnesses to a serious accident involving a motorcyclist and a car on the B3004 last Thursday. The accident took place at around 8.30pm on November 29, at the notorious blackspot on the B3004 near the Passfield post office. A 33-year-old motorcyclist from Liphook was thrown off his Yamaha motorbike after being in a collision with a red Peugeot 106 and flung into the shrubs. Two Hampshire ambulances attended the scene and it was confirmed that the motorcyclist had suspected spinal injuries and wrist fractures and he was rushed to the Royal Surrey Hospital for emergency treatment. The driver of the car, a 78-year-old woman from Bordon, suffered a broken arm and was also treated at the Royal Surrey Hospital. The motorcyclist's condition later deteriorated and on Monday he was transferred to St George's Hospital in London. He remains there in a stable condition. Following the accident, the B3004 was closed for 90 minutes between Passfield Road and Hollywater Road. This latest accident highlights the urgent need to implement safety measures along this stretch of road, after a series of crashes over the last year. In April 18-year-old student Robyn-Ellen France died in a three-car crash and since then there have been other accidents, although none of them fatal. The proposed village 30 programme which has the full backing of Liphook and Bramshott parish councillors, and which aims to reduce the speed limit along this stretch of road from 50 mph to 30 mph would greatly enhance road safety, but it is still waiting agreed. Police are appealing for key witnesses and Pc Nicola O'Leary from the roads policing unit at Whitehill Police Station said: "This was a fairly busy road and there were a number of drivers who may have witnessed this accident. "I am especially keen to hear from anyone who saw either the car or the motorcycle prior to the collision." Anyone with information can contact Pc Nicola O'Leary, Whitehill Police Station on 0845 045 45 45 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
