POLICE are appealing for witnesses after the Total petrol station in Hindhead was targeted by thieves for the third time in as many months.
At around 4-15 am on Monday, a silver Subaru drove on to the forecourt of the petrol station on the A3.
Two of the three suspects were caught on CCTV wearing dark clothing, balaclavas and what appeared to be white, ski-type masks. One of them was also wearing a white baseball cap.
The offenders smashed the glass door to gain entry and helped themselves to a large quantity of cigarettes and phone cards worth more than £1,500.
They left the scene at speed in the Subaru in a northerly direction along the A3.
The silver Subaru, registration K677 EMO, had been reported stolen from an address in Basingstoke the previous week. As The Herald went to press it had not yet been recovered.
This is the third burglary in as many months at the garage and Surrey Police are are investigating whether there is any link between this incident and the other offences.
However at the moment, there's no positive link with the previous burglaries.
The police, however, are linking this theft to a similar offence which happened earlier the same morning at Threshers in Petersfield.
