POLICE are seeking witnesses to a serious crash on the A339 near Alton in which one man died and a man and a woman were left with serious injuries.
The incident happened at around 7.30pm last Friday, February 12, at Lasham, when a silver Toyota Corolla travelling north along the A339 toward Basingstoke was involved in a collision with a southbound blue Honda Civic.
The people in the Toyota, a 71-year-old man and a 69-year-old woman, suffered serious injuries and were taken to Southampton General Hospital by ambulance where the man died of his injuries in the early hours of Monday. The woman remains in hospital where her condition is described as “serious”.
The driver of the Honda, a 41-year old man, suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries and remains in Frimley Park Hospital.
Part of the road was closed following the accident to enable recovery of the vehicles and for officers to examine the crash scene. Diversions were put in place and the road re-opened the following morning.
