ALTON police are appealing for witnesses to help them find a con-man who attempted to burgle the home of an 85-year-old woman in Spitalfields Road recently.
The man posed as a water board official to persuade the woman to let them into her house at around 8 pm on Saturday December 11 and distracted her by telling her to turn all the taps on as the water pressure was too high.
