DRUGS raids by police in the Haslemere area were part of two days of action which resulted in a woman from the town among others being arrested and charged with drugs related offences.

Surrey Police conducted a string of raids, in conjunction with the South East Regional Organised Crime Unit on October 15 and 22.

They searched addresses in Haslemere and also the Guildford, Camberley and Woking areas, as well as in London, Surrey, Farnborough, in Hampshire, and Sandhurst in Berkshire.

In total, 26 people were arrested during the two-day intelligence led operation that followed months of planning in an attempt to disrupt the supply of class A drugs.

On the second day of the operation last Thursday, 14 people were charged after raids and searches were carried out in Haslemere, Woking, Chilworth and Guildford – again to disrupt the supply of class A drugs.

Safer Neighbourhood Team Inspector Nolan Heather said: "Drug use and the supply of drugs has a direct impact on our communities and is something we take extremely seriously.

"I hope the action we have taken is of reassurance to the public that we will act to make your neighbourhoods a safer place to live and will take action where the public have passed on information to us.

Fourteen of the total arrested suspects appeared at Guildford Magistrates Court last Friday, and 13 of them will appear again at Guildford Crown Court, on Thursday, November 5.

Among them was Natasha Claus, 34, of Sickle Road, Haslemere, who was charged with supplying class A drugs.

Twelve more were charged following the first day’s raid and appeared at Guildford Magistrates Court, on October 16. Eleven of them were due to appear at Guildford Crown Court yesterday (Thursday), after The Herald went to press.

Inspector Heather said: "Anyone who has any information or suspicions about people they suspect of dealing drugs should contact their local neighbourhood team.

“However if you wish to remain anonymous you can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
