AN elderly woman was mugged for her laptop computer by a motorcyclist who asked her for directions last Thursday morning.
The 81 year old was walking along Derby Road, Haslemere, when she was approached by a man on a black motorcycle. After asking for directions to the station, he grabbed her £1,200 black Pico computer and sped off.
He is described as white, in his 30s, around 5 ft 10 ins tall, unshaven and wearing a white open-face helmet, navy blue jacket and dark trousers.
A similar incident occurred on Friday in Bacon Lane, near Frensham Ponds around noon.
A man on a black motorcycle pulled up to an elderly woman before seeing an approaching traffic warden and suddenly speeding off.
The driver was wearing a a full-face helmet, and the bike had cropped handlebars and a back wheel that was larger than the front.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the laptop theft, and have suggested that people should avoid carrying such valuable items around with them. Anyone with information should call 01252 716 262.
