A FARNHAM woman was air-lifted to the Royal London Hospital on Tuesday where she remains in a critical but stable condition after being involved in a collision with a car on West Street. The accident, which took place at around 11.40am, occurred after the 60-year-old woman had stepped off a bus opposite The Chantry's housing estate and into the path of a silver Seat Ibiza. She was left with serious injuries following the accident and underwent emergency surgery at the Royal London Hospital on Tuesday evening. The driver of the car, a 93-year-old Farnham man, was treated for shock but was not injured. A member of a contracting firm working at the Travis Perkins outlet on West Street witnessed the accident and called the emergency services. "I was in my van and heard a loud thud and then turned and saw her fly through the air and land on the road," he said. "I called an ambulance straight away." A police spokesman at the scene said: "Her injuries were deemed serious enough that she has now been taken to the Royal London Hospital by air ambulance." The road was kept closed until 3.40pm by police following the incident as forensic investigators were working at the scene. Police are appealing for any witnesses to the collision to contact Surrey Police's collision investigation unit on 01483 639922.
