A FARNHAM police officer has rescued a woman from a smoke-filled house.
Pc Ian Heaphy made the dramatic dash to save the woman after thick smoke engulfed her home on the Sandy Hill Estate.
The officer was on patrol on the estate just before 6pm when the call went out about a house fire.
Within seconds he was at the open back door and could see that the house was filled with black smoke. A person could be heard inside but when he called out to her and received no response he went in, found her in the front room and led her to safety.
The 59-year-old woman was taken to Frimley Park Hospital suffering from smoke inhalation and allowed home later that day.
Pc Heaphy described his action as "just part of being a neighbourhood officer in the community".
It is believed a kitchen fire was responsible and that the house was not seriously damaged.
