POLICE have made an urgent appeal for information after a woman was tied up and a pillowcase put over her head, while thieves ransacked her home on Wednesday night.
The middle-aged woman was watching television at her home near King Edward's School, Wormley, on the A283 Petworth Road, when two raiders, believed to be black, burst into her room between 10-30 pm and 11 pm. They tied up her hands and feet before covering her head with a pillowcase.
The thieves searched the house for 10-15 minutes before making off with cash, credit cards and two watches. Once they had left, the woman managed to free herself and raised the alarm.
Detective Sergeant Steve Haines said: "We would like to appeal to anyone who saw anything or anyone suspicious.
"This is a very serious incident and the woman is very shaken by her ordeal. Thankfully incidents of this nature are extremely rare in Waverley," Ds Haines added.
