THERE will be more overnight closures of the A3
Hindhead Tunnel this weekend.
The tunnel will be closed in both directions for systems maintenance work between 10pm and 6am on Friday and Saturday.

planned for February 27, February 28 and March 1.
Work will take place between 10pm and 6am on
Thursdays and Fridays, and between 9pm and 9am on
Saturdays.
Diversions will be in place via the A31 and A325.
The work will also ensure electricity supplies in the
event of a power spike, say the Highways Agency.
Routine maintenance of the tunnel – when one of the
two bores will be shut for four days at time – has also
been planned for March, April, June, July, August,
October and November.
Traffic will use the opposite bore in a contraflow
with a 40mph speed limit.
An agency spokesman said routine maintenance
involves tasks such as jet washing and testing equipment.
