A NEW traffic phasing system is expected to be installed at the Tesco's traffic lights next week, to help alleviate tailback problems in Wey Hill.

Principal engineer for Surrey County Council Graham Hodgson said that no road closure was expected to be necessary, and the replacement of the traffic controller should take a week.

Temporary traffic lights are not expected to be installed during the work. Workmen will relyon signs and the patience of motorists.

The long overdue £95,000 worth of remedial work, paid for with money claimed back by Surrey County Council from the developers, comes after two years of traffic chaos at the traffic lights.

Further work on two nearby pelican crossings is also planned for mid February, and will take between four and six weeks to put in place.
