FERNHURST Primary School played its part for Sport Relief with a fundraising cake sale, a sponsored dress-up day and by selling wristbands throughout last week.
“The wristbands have certainly proved very popular with all the children, staff and parents,” said a school spokesman. “The class six pupils’ own initiative was organising a cake sale. Taking place on a sunny Monday afternoon, they sold plenty of homemade sponges, cupcakes, tray bakes and brownies and raised a fantastic £63.
“We also enjoyed our Sports Star Day on Friday, when the children were invited to come to school dressed as their favourite sporting personality in return for a £1 donation,” the spokesman added. “In total, all our efforts have raised over £270 for Sports Relief. An amazing total for an amazing charity.”
