EARLIER this month the Challengers Business Club met for its first event of 2017 to hear from comedian, actress and writer Sally Phillips at the Challengers Farnham Youth Centre.
Sally is best known for writing Channel 4 hit Smack the Pony, appearing in films like Bridget Jones, and playing much-loved characters in TV programmes like Miranda.
She was welcomed by a group of Challengers parent ambassadors who swapped stories about their children, their lives and their experiences with Challengers, before moving onto a question-and-answer session in front of guests, led by Challengers’ parent Gail Bedding.
Listeners heard about her career in the television and film industry, and she had the audience captivated with hilarious anecdotes from her experiences. Sally also spoke about the balance between her career and family life, taking care of her three children.
Susie Jewell, corporate partnerships manager, said: “It was such a pleasure to have Sally with us, she was a joy to listen to. Her stories are so interesting and funny and I am thrilled that she has been able to come and speak with the Challengers Business Club.”
Challengers is a local charity, which provides fun and exciting play and leisure schemes for disabled children and young people. Currently supporting more than 1,400 families across 26 different schemes, the Challengers Business Club is just one way that the charity raises funds to continue their much needed service.
The club is a group of locally based firms committed to growing their businesses while supporting Challengers.
All members play an active part in the local business community. Being a part of the business club gives people access to exclusive quarterly seminars, such as this event, hearing from business leaders at the top of their professions.
