FRENSHAM Pond Sailability has had another good year which was brought to a successful conclusion at its end-of-season forum.
Guests of honour were Andrew Lodge and Ian Soden from Farnham Lions, who have been generous supporters since the club started.
It was an opportunity to celebrate the many successes enjoyed by Sailability members, including several overseas in France, Italy and Belgium. In Britain there have also been wins at events at Rutland, the New Forest and at home at Frensham.
It was also an occasion to give prizes to sailors who had shown particular improvement during the year.
Andrew Lodge presented Gregor Parker with the Farnham Lions’ Endeavour Trophy, and other awards went to Martin Renouf, Miles Norwood, Paul Phillips, James Woosnam and Ann Lewis.
Everyone was congratulated on the winning of the Ben Ainsley Trophy for the 11th consecutive year!
Off the water, there were several other achievements during the year. Foremost of these were the Farnham Sports Council awards to Brian Fuller and Danny McCulloch, the increased capacity due to the new extension to one of the jetties, the installation of a new IT system on the Welcome desk, as well as the acquisition of three new boats and a new trailer.
Numbers of sailors and volunteers were up. More than 30 new members had joined during the year and several more volunteers had become involved.
The meeting was also an opportunity for sailors and volunteers to ask questions and a useful discussion was held.
Frensham Pond Sailability is a charity which relies on the goodwill of sponsors and volunteers, and thanks to their support it has been possible to provide many people with disabilities or long term illnesses with the opportunity to enjoy sailing at Frensham Pond.
