Fine dining has come to Folly Lane as one of East Hampshire’s most highly-regarded chefs has opened a restaurant in Petersfield.

Nathan Marshall loves to keep it local, as the acclaimed chef served up some of the county’s best fayre at his previous restaurant in Clarke House in West Liss.

But now he’s living and working in the same town with his new restaurant opening last week in the former Cantina Rosita premises on Folly Lane.

“It’s been hard work – the sign went up at lunchtime and that was the last thing,” said the hugely experienced chef with a Michelin background.

“We were happy in Liss but it was time to move on as the restaurant was on split levels and it was getting hard work.

“We looked around for a year. We looked at a place in East Tisted and the Queens Hotel in Selborne, but it didn’t pan out, unfortunately.

“We wanted to stay within a ten-mile radius of Liss, especially as I live in Petersfield, but I didn’t want to go bigger and wanted to keep it intimate. This is perfect.”

The news has definitely excited local foodies with the restaurant’s Instagram account getting more than 1,000 extra followers and the diary already filling up.

Those lucky enough to get a table can expect modern European and fine-dining British cuisine with a focus on seasonality and local produce.

He said: “I change my menu weekly because I want to keep it fresh and do what I want to do – I want to keep changing.

“I don’t think there’s a similar place to this since Restaurant Six closed.

“But we’ve had a great start and everyone has been pretty happy so far and they’re happy we’ve found a place after leaving Liss.”
