THE Lord Lieutenant of Surrey and the Mayors of Waverley and Farnham joined medal-ribboned veterans and a huge contingent of young people around the war memorial in Gostrey Meadow on Sunday.

The traditional solemn act of remembrance and two-minute silence seems to attract more and more people as years go by, with current and recent conflicts adding a fresh poignance to proceedings.
