KIDS at The Ark Nursery together with local toddler group Little Piglets enjoyed a fun-filled royal wedding garden party at Liphook Church Centre.

They gathered inside their own teepee, singing wedding songs and playing games.

The tent was decorated with homemade Union Jack bunting and boys and girls wore crowns and tiaras which they had decorated themselves with jewels earlier that week. Special treats included fruit kebabs made of strawberries and bananas as well as a selection of royal cupcakes.

Regulars at the village’s day centre in Midhurst Road, had fun at their party playing games including word searches, crosswords and word scramble puzzles.

They also played a royal race to the church dice game, enjoyed a royal raffle and a special celebration cake trolley all week.

Dressed in red white and blue, clients reminisced about the splendour and pageantry of Princess Elizabeth’s wedding at Westminster Abbey, on November 20, 1947, before she became Queen, and Prince Charles and Lady Diana’s wedding at St Paul’s Cathedral, on July 29, 1981.

Royal celebrations also went on all week at L&S Cafe in The Square, where Lucy and Michael Walters served special cakes to celebrate not only the marriage of Meghan Markle to Prince Harry, but also their own first wedding anniversary, – and two years at the cafe.
