ALTON’S Allen Gallery is inviting young artists to take part in a children’s art competition.

The youngsters, who must be aged five to 11, have until January 7 to submit their artwork for the exhibition will take place from January 10-28. The theme for the competition is ‘Kings and Queens’ and artwork can be in any medium and must be no bigger than A4.

Gallery manager Jamie Allen said: “We have decided to extend the deadline for entries into the new year to allow children to complete their pictures during the Christmas holidays.”

There will be a selection process for artwork which will be displayed on the wall. All remaining work will go into a folder display.

There are two categories – 5-7 year olds and 8-11 year olds – and one winner will be chosen from each category.
