THE Conservative Party has selected Victoria Young over Jim Edwards as a county council candidate for the May elections.

It follows former council leader Andrew Povey's decision not to seek re-election by his party.

Mr Edwards, a veteran Waverley Borough councillor and former mayor of Haslemere, was put forward as candidate for May's county elections, but newcomer Mrs Young will now stand for the Eastern Villages seat.

The ward includes Chiddingfold, Hascombe, Hambledon, Busbridge, Dunsfold, Alfold, Bramley, Wonersh, Blackheath and Shamley Green.
