IT might have taken a while to celebrate but Liss Infant School brought out the bunting and the flags last week to reenact its very own special mini-Olympic sports day – one year on.
The special event, rained off last year, took place in brilliant sunshine, complete with opening ceremony, street dancing by pupils from year two and children parading behind flags from six countries from across the globe (pictured).
With teams representing Spain, Kenya, Australia, the United States, China and Brazil, it was sports day business as usual with sack races, relay races, javelin, football dribbling, hula hooping and sprint finals on offer.
Presentation medals were make from an Olympic-style podium, followed by a parade before it was back to the classrooms for the best prize of all – ice cream!
Julie Buckland, a Liss Infant School teacher and sports co-ordinator, was delighted with the event which she said "went very well".
