YOUNG people from all around East Hampshire will take to the floor on Friday, April 18, for the final of Show Off 2008. The event, organised by East Hampshire District Council, is now in its fourth year and will raise the bar again for the quality of the show and aim for a sell out crowd as it did last year. Auditions for the talent show will be held in the Studio@TPS, Petersfield on Saturday, February 9, and are for anyone aged between nine and 18 who lives or goes to school in East Hampshire. The competition isn't just for singers and bands. It's for anyone who thinks they have an interesting act that they think other people will want to see on stage, as long as it doesn't involve something like juggling fire. Anyone who tried last year but didn't win or didn't make it into the final, is urged to try again. The event is about giving the opportunity to acts to gain experience of being on stage, put on the best show possible and hopefully become one of the winners. The band Bikini State Alert entered Show Off 2007 and - after small changes to the line-up - played to hundreds of people at Butserfest 2007 as Origin. Hilary Ayer, EHDC portfolio holder for youth and community said: "From the standard of acts at Butserfest, it's clear that there's a wealth of talented people in East Hampshire. Show Off 2008 is a great opportunity to spot the talent while they're still young and give them the confidence to go on to bigger and better things."
